Bringing fresh energy, Steve Splichal is ready to lead USD 323 into its next chapter. Splichal comes to Rock Creek after leaving his previous job in Dubois, Wyoming. Because that school had just around 150 students, Splichal appreciates the activities and events that come with larger schools.
“I like to be able to do these kinds of activities. I like to be able to engage with kids and our staff, and be a part of activities and events… that are going on,” Splichal said.
Splichal moved here to be closer to family, but was also drawn to Rock Creek for its community, and our staff that makes the community great.
“The incredible work that our staff is putting in, I think that you’d want to be able to be part of this. It’s just the right place to be, ” Splichal said.
Sandy Anderson, a former teacher at St. George, who is now working at Westmoreland elementary, has already noticed the superintendent’s steady support for the schools, and is thankful for him stepping up to show leadership.
“We’re excited and thankful to have him, and he has done a great job showing support in all the different schools, and making himself very present,” Anderson said.
Anderson expressed confidence in the superintendent’s vision for the district, saying it is clear he has set his priorities with students in mind.
“It seems that students’ well being and safety is at the forefront of everything, and then followed by activities and opportunities,” Anderson said.
The student-centered approach appears to be the key part of Spichal’s leadership style, as he works to guide Rock Creek students towards academic and personal success.
“Success comes down to putting our kids in the best possible position to be the best versions of themselves,” Splichal said.
