Going to a coffee shop I always like to try something new and go on an adventure with my taste buds so when I browsed the menu and saw the Irish Sin at the fairly new 151 coffee shop I was instantly intrigued. I initially chose the Irish Sin for the interesting name and a hopeful promise for a little festive spark for the cozy autumn season had been slowly creeping into the area.
When I received my drink I was filled with pure delight which is a common feeling I get when my drink is handed to me from the barista. I was excited to indulge in my heritage of shamrocks and leprechauns, but when I first tasted the coffee I was met with just regular plain coffee. I didn’t get the creamy and rich irish breve that they advertised on the menu nor the shamrocks and leprechauns fantasy I was wishing for. I was greeted with just regular coffee which isn’t the end of the world but not what I necessarily wanted. Nevertheless the coffee was good and made my day instantly better.
Where 151 Coffee really shines though, is in everything else. The service? Amazing. The baristas were fast, friendly, and knew what they were doing. My drink was ready in no time and the place was clean which is a major plus in my book. The prices were also a pleasant shock. A large drink for only under six bucks? Sign me up! The iced drinks are comparatively cheaper than other nearby coffee establishments like Starbucks with the largest going up to a whopping $6.30 to even $7.00 dollars. With how much I get paid there is no way I’m paying for that!
If I had to complain about something I would say the location. 151 is nestled alongside Tuttle Creek Boulevard and the access may not be the most convenient. People have to turn on Bluemont Avenue and immediately turn onto North Third Street then eventually turn into the establishment. Also the shape of the entirety of 151 is odd. The lot is almost a rectangle shape with the shop and drive through on one end a little parking lot on the other. Which seems to maybe lead to some crowds of cars waiting in line on the street.
Overall, I think the drinks are very tasty and I love the different names of the festive drink menu but may be lacking in the flavor that is advertised. I also think that the lot of 151 is not being used to the fullest of its potential and the access getting into 151 is definitely questionable but manageable.
