How’s your day been? Mine has been pretty good, anyways I have a question, What happens at winter formal? Please tell me it’s better than Hoco, that was not the greatest for me.

Dear Curious and Hopeful,

My day is off to a great start! Thank you for asking. During winter formal almost everyone dresses up and goes to the gym. There will be a DJ that Stuco Sponser Tori Sieben has selected and they will be playing the music for the night. Throughout the evening there will be different types of music from line dances to slow dances. Towards the end of the night the winter royalty candidates will all take the dance floor and everyone will be around in a big circle. 

Leading up to winter formal throughout the week there are dress up days, which you can participate in. Some of the favorites being twin day and cartoon crew day. There will be a winner from each grade that will be announced Friday at the pep rally. 

Friday before formal is a day full of excitement. You can expect the class schedule to be different. Usually, there will be a movie playing in the commons and different games and activities in the gym. At the end of the day everyone will go to then make their way to the high school gym for the pep rally.

At the pep rally the candidates will each have a dance to perform for the crowd. Once they dazzle us all with their dance moves they will then do different games and have a winner based on points ( or crowd response). The cheerleaders and cheer coaches help plan and emcee the entire pep rally. Overall, it is a fun time that a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into for all of us. Like most things in life the event is only as fun as you make it. If you have a positive fun vibe going into it, you are bound to have a great time. I know I will.
