Rock Creek School District is proud to announce that Rock Creek High School junior English teacher Mayci Armstrong has been named a 2026 Kansas Horizon Award Winner by the Kansas State Department of Education.
Armstrong is one of only 32 first-year teachers statewide selected for this prestigious honor, which recognizes outstanding new educators who demonstrate excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to student learning early in their careers.
Armstrong received the news during a personal phone call from Dr. Randy Watson, Kansas Commissioner of Education, congratulating her on this significant achievement. Currently in her second year of teaching English at Rock Creek High School, Armstrong has already made a meaningful impact on students and the school community.
The Horizon Award highlights exceptional promise in Kansas educators and celebrates those who are shaping the future of education.
