Rock Creek Journalism would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the generous Rock Creek family, Jill and Josh Kurk, for their recent donation in support of the program.
Their gift does more than provide funding, it places real tools, equipment, and opportunities directly into the hands of students who are learning to tell the stories of their school and community.
Because of support like this, students are able to weekly produce the school’s online newspaper, The Hoof Print, create weekly broadcasts for and livestream opportunities for RCTV, record episodes of the Mustang Rewind Podcast, and sell, design, and create the Mustang Yearbook.
These experiences go far beyond a typical classroom assignment. Students learn storytelling, media production, collaboration, and responsibility while working with industry relevant equipment and real deadlines.
This generous gift is a powerful reminder of how meaningful community support can be. When families invest in student journalism, they are investing in student voices, creativity, confidence, and the ability to communicate stories that matter.
Rock Creek Journalism welcomes continued support from others in the community. Those who would like to contribute to the program can contact Mrs. Schmidt, journalism adviser via her email at [email protected] to make arrangements or they may make a secure online donation made through The Hoof Print online newspaper by clicking the donate button at the bottom of the homepage.
Every donation large or small helps ensure students in our growing program have access to the cameras, microphones, software, printing resources, and materials needed to create high-quality work across newspaper, broadcast, podcasting, and yearbook.
Rock Creek Journalism is deeply grateful for the partnership between families, community members, and students as they work together to share the stories of Rock Creek.
