On Saturday, May 9, the Rock Creek JV Softball team will take the field for more than just competition. During a four-team tournament, the program will once again host its annual “Strike Out Cancer” event, an inspiring day dedicated to rallying the community, honoring those affected by cancer, and raising funds to support families currently in the fight.
Over the past five years, Rock Creek Softball has turned this event into a meaningful tradition. To date, the team has raised and donated more than $13,500 to members of the Mustang family as well as families from opposing schools who are battling cancer. This year, commemorative benches recognizing each year of the tournament will be unveiled, celebrating how this event has grown into a powerful symbol of compassion and community.
The event is made possible through generous sponsorship and support from K-State Federal Credit Union, Fleming Construction, Farmers State Bank, Thomas Sign, Smithfield Foods, Davis Distribution, and shirt sponsor N Zone Sports, with additional sponsors still being added.
Throughout the day, attendees can participate in several fundraising opportunities:
- Raffle baskets available for $2 per ticket, with winners announced before the final game
- A special raffle for a handcrafted “Strike Out Cancer” quilt, themed for softball and this year’s tournament, available for $5 per ticket
- Official 2026 Strike Out Cancer event shirts, featuring a new logo and pink tie-dye design
Shirts are available for preorder:
- $16 for short sleeve
- $22 for long sleeve
(Add $2 per size above XL, up to 4X)
Shirt orders must be placed by Friday, April 24.

All proceeds from the tournament, raffles, and shirt sales will be 100% donated to individuals and families currently battling cancer. The Rock Creek Softball team hopes to continue spreading the message that no one fights alone.
Community members who would like to purchase a shirt, buy raffle tickets, or nominate a family or individual who could benefit from this fundraiser are encouraged to reach out.
Rock Creek Softball proudly stands behind this cause as Team 30, committed to making a difference both on and off the field.
